Complete Zen-Style Tropical Backyard Makeover

Wanting a backyard that could be both fun and entertaining, as well as relaxing, this Oshawa-area family requested a tropical style for their project that would create a feeling of zen and it was important to them that the space be kid friendly for their two daughters to enjoy safely, as well as dog friendly for their two pugs.

Featured items of this project included a 10’ by 24’ inground swimming pool, bullnose pool coping caps, a waterfall feature, retaining wall, interlocking patio, stone steps, a privacy fence, custom wooden deck and shaded seating areas.

For the perfect way to cool off in the summer, we installed a 10’ by 24’ custom inground rectangular pool that included a gorgeous waterfall feature that offered a tropical aspect to their space so they can feel as if they are on vacation in their own home.

The simplicity of the one spillway adds that feeling of zen they were looking for, giving the area the sense of calm that the family desired.

A challenge for this property was that it was not originally ideal for a pool to be put in due to its fairly steep slope.

The homeowners were dejected at the idea that it wouldn’t be possible for them to receive the pool they dreamed of, however we overcame this setback by installing an engineered retaining wall that was quite unique in its larger size in order to accommodate the slope. We ultimately took an area that was originally not suitable for a pool, and, with our expertise, made it work so that the homeowners could have their backyard’s centerpiece.

Overall, this project focused on many new additions, including a beautiful interlocking stone patio, custom stone steps, a privacy fence with lighting, private seating areas, a two-level deck, barbecuing area and a custom inground swimming pool complete with custom steps and a gorgeous waterfall feature.
